Shrimp Fra Diavolo

Ingredients
  • 1 pound Vermicelli
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 each Small Sweet Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic, Crushed
  • 3 1/2 cups Furmano's Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Italian Parsley, Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pound Medium Raw Shrimp, Shelled
  • As Needed Parmesan Cheese
Preparation
  1. Cook the Vermicelli in a large pot of boiling water until just done; about 9 minutes.
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
  3. Add onion to the pan, stirring occasionally. Cook until translucent; about 5 minutes.
  4. Add garlic; saute 30 more seconds.
  5. Stir in Furmano's Crushed Tomatoes, red pepper flakes, water, Italian parsley, and salt.
  6. Reduce heat to low; cover; simmer 15 minutes.
  7. Add the shrimp; cover. Cook just until Shrimp are pink; about 4 - 5 minutes.
  8. When vermicelli is done, drain the pasta and toss with tomato sauce and shrimp.
  9. Serve sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and fresh garlic bread.

Tip: For a different take on this recipe, you can add lobster in place of the shrimp.
